I worked on these two paintings long time ago. I have not completed them and I have left them at a corner since then. I saw them this afternoon and I decided to complete it. They are done and I have signed it. Hope to add them in my art gallery website.

I am happy to show you two paintings related to meditation. I painted a novice monk practising meditation in the paintings. Inspiration come from my involvement in a novitiate program. A friend asked me to help him to design a certification of participation of novitiate program organised by Vipassana Meditation Centre, Singapore, while we were working together for the design, my son come to know about it and he decided to join the novitiate program during his year end holiday, he was 7 years old then. With reference to the photos that I have taken during that time, I painted these two paintings. The sitting meditation painting was just completed yesterday. I hope you enjoy my works.

I have many paintings that were recorded in art publications. The latest publication that has two of my paintings printed in it is the Singapore Art Society Artists’ Directory 1949-2009. Singapore Art Society was inaugurated in 1949 and it has 60 years of living and history in Singapore.

The President of Singapore Art Society Mr Khor Ean Ghee mentioned in his message that the works in the directory represent the spectrum of artwork in Singapore Art Society (SAS) including Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Ink Painting, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Mix Media, Sculptures and Ceramic. He is hoping that these featured works will encourage the younger generation of artists to exhibit and publish their works, and also help to promote the culture and appreciation of art in the country.

In the photo, the open page of the Singapore Art Society Artists’ Directory 1949-2009, two of my paintings are printed on page 123. I am happy that the printing quality of the directory is quite well done. There are 234 selected works in full colour by 117 of the SAS members are featured in this directory.

Other art publications shown in the above photo are: Singapore Artists Speak, Change – 20 Singapore artists – A decade of their works, Singapore Art Society Artists’ Directory and Nanyang 70 Years After – A Reunion of Artists in the Academy. I believe that one could find these books at reference section of Singapore National Library.
