There are many brands of acrylic paints in the market. We can use any of them that are available in Singapore. Here is a photo of smallest tube size of 12ml, then 38ml, 59ml, 60ml, 75ml, 150 ml, 250ml and bottle sizes of 250ml, 500ml and 1000ml that I have purchased before.

For beginners, I recommend them to buy a box of paint set that has basic colors like yellow, red, blue, white, black, green and brown etc. Different manufacturers have different names for their paint sets for beginners. Names like starter set, basic set, introduction set, selection set, primary mixing set, process set etc.. any names that they can think of. Sizes of the tubes from 12 ml, 20 ml to 40 ml, 60ml, 75ml or even 120ml etc…

A visit to an art shop will fulfill your needs of getting a box of acrylic paints that it suits your budget.

Below two photos are examples of basic acrylic paint set and brushes, canvas, canvas panel, painting knifes etc that one would buy for the acrylic painting for beginner lessons.

Good spiritual friends are our teachers, our mentor, they show us the path to happiness, peace and joy. If better still they walk with us, holding our hands on the path. That would be very blessed and happy to have such friends. Very often, our thoughts, experience and memory could be our inspiration for paintings. I am delighted to share with you a recent painting by Vivien Lee, she has been painting with me as private participant since last year.

Gates of Heaven. 2010. 16 x 20 inches. Acrylic on canvas. By Vivien Lee.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Tim 4:7

Vivien told me: “When I run I often pray – sometimes repeating a meditative phrase to myself, or simply talking to God. This painting was inspired by a 30k run during the night of 23 October. It was an unusual experience for me – the night lights shone beautifully, mesmerizing almost and I pictured running towards them. I thought to myself, this is what running towards the gates of heaven must be like. I also ‘saw’ cheerleaders along the way, spurring me on.

With good friends, who run alongside, I am spurred on to live more fully, true to my faith and its message of love. Each with their own gifts, they show me what true love us – simply by the care they extend towards me in how they are: honest, simple, constant, open, kind and believing. They inspire me to run towards the glory of the day when we will all walk through those gates.

On my own, I may land up running around in circles, in darkness and falling off the tracks. The gates of heaven seem far and remain shut.

It is a real joy and blessing to have these spiritual friends present in my life. An amazing (g)race indeed!”

I hope you enjoy this work. May all be blessed.
