Online Art Exhibition “30 Paintings from 30 Years” Prabhakara Jimmy Quek

“30 Painting from 30 Years” online art exhibition project, showing 30 Paintings created by Prabhakara Jimmy Quek over a span of thirty years, one painting each year from 1985 to 2014. This online art exhibition starts from 24 June noon.

Viewer get access to the 30 paintings via Internet at their convenience. There are two version: Images version and Images with Texts version. Paintings inspiration from the rubber plantation.

First time I saw many rubber trees and I had to live closely to the trees was when I went for an intensive Vipassana Retreat in Kota Tinggi in 1987. The retreat center was in a rubber plantation. After then, I painted some paintings that I had got inspirations from the plantation, memories and experiences  I had had from the retreats. Share with you a few paintings.

Pendant with words of seal carving design.

Share with you a pendant that I made incorporating the art of seal carving in the pendant. The words are 流水本无情. meaning relentless flowing water. How do you feel about this new pendant.

Almost 40 years ago, I learn Seal Carving Art and I had made more than hundred pieces of seal carving works. Once I submitted an artwork of my seal carvings in National Day Art Exhibition and it was selected for the exhibition. I was happy about that of course. I made less and less seal carving art when I started working after leaving college. Later I did more experimental art and western painting. Share with you below some seal carving art made by me in the 70’s.
